Conduct
One of the core values of the Goose Creek United Soccer Club is to promote the spirit of good sportsmanship and to expect that spirit of sportsmanship from all of our players, coaches, parents and fans.
As fans, there are a few simple points that we should be mindful of when watching games:
1. When GCU is the host team, be a good host. When we are the visitors, be well-behaved visitors.
2. Do not make negative comments about any of the players, parents or coaches on either team. Do not cheer for cards given to the other team.
3. Do not say anything negative to the referee no matter how he/she is doing his/her job. One of the main reasons for referee turnover is verbal abuse from the sidelines. Many of the calls referees make involve a certain amount of judgment, so they will miss calls on occassion. It is another aspect of the game that needs to be accepted.
4. Do not coach the team or your child from the sideline. This is confusing to the player and puts the player in a bad situation in trying to determine what to do.
5. Remember that you are a representative of GCU. Please act in a manner that is appropriate to the environment (i.e., you are watching kids play a game).
6. Never enter the playing field without being told to do so.
7. Before leaving the area, please deposit any trash into the nearest receptacle.
In summary: Let the players play, the coaches coach, the refs ref and the fans cheer!
